His career spans over 35 years, during which time he has received more than 400 state, national, and international awards, including the prestigious Australian Professional Photographer of the Year (2013, 2024), and the International Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2023. Throughout his journey, Tony has explored multiple photographic genres - fine art, aerial landscape, travel, portrait, and commercial photography - while also running Hewitt Studios with his wife, Lynette. His passion for storytelling through imagery has led to over twenty-five solo exhibitions and countless collaborative projects, solidifying the Tony Hewitt Fine Art brand. With a deep-rooted fascination for aerial perspectives—perhaps inspired by his pilot father—Tony has developed a unique artistic approach that captures the beauty of the land from above. His work is driven by an instinctive creativity, an insatiable curiosity, and a profound connection to both people and places. Beyond the lens, Tony is a sought-after keynote speaker and mentor, sharing his photographic vision and philosophy with audiences worldwide. His ability to inspire and challenge perspectives has earned him a reputation as an artist who not only captures stunning imagery but also touches the heart and transforms thinking.
The Girt by Sea project, a collaboration with Denis Glennon represents the culmination of a lifelong ambition, and he considers it a privilege to have worked alongside Denis, whose passion, determination and attention to detail were integral in the success of such a momentous undertaking.

A Passion for Photography and Exploration
Denis Glennon AO, FAIPP
One of the seventy million Irish diaspora scattered across the globe, Denis Glennon AO made Western Australia his home in 1974. Before immersing himself in the world of photography through Iconic Images International, he spent more than 35 years in the corporate sector, working across various parts of the world. In recognition of his contributions to environmental engineering and pollution prevention, Denis was awarded an AO (Officer of the Order of Australia) in 2000, marking two decades of impact in this field. However, it was a seven-year spell in Zambia that truly ignited his passion for photography, particularly capturing Africa’s wildlife, landscapes, and cultures.
Today, one of his greatest joys is introducing others to the magic of Africa, especially through the lens of a camera. He considers the breathtaking aerial images from this project among the highlights of his photographic career and hopes that the accompanying book will inspire others to explore the artistry of aerial photography. More than anything, he finds fulfillment in seeing the spark of excitement in a photographer’s eyes when they capture an image they never imagined possible. When asked about capturing iconic images, Denis offers a simple yet profound philosophy: "The camera is merely a tool to collect pixels. Focus instead on honing your ability to connect with the beauty of what nature is revealing to you, and the door to truly iconic photography will open." Reflecting on the Girt by Sea adventure, Denis describes Tony as a photographer with ‘the most perceptive eye he has ever known’.
